Playwright Luis Alfaro, recipient of a 1997 MacArthur Foundation Fellowship, and director Jon Lawrence Rivera present a contemporary adaptation of Sophocles' classic play "Oedipus Rex."  In this version, the 'kingdoms' are California's state prisons, and the new rulers of the land have been released to their territories on good behavior. On parole is Oedipus El Rey, who is trying to overcome his nobility and escape his fate, while a chorus of inmates awaits his return. The word on the street is not good, but great love can overcome all weakness.
